The Nantahala Hiking Club will take a 6-mile moderate-to-strenuous hike Oct. 13 with an elevation change of 900 feet from Burningtown Gap to Rocky Bald along the Appalachian Trail. Meet at 9 a.m. in Franklin at the Westgate Plaza, opposite Burger King. Call leader Gail Lehman, 524-5298, for reservations. Visitors are welcome, but no pets.
