The Nantahala Hiking Club will take a 6-mile moderate hike Dec. 1 on the Appalachian Trail from Winding Stair Gap to Panther Gap, returning via Lick Log Gap. Meet in Franklin at Westgate opposite Burger King at 9 a.m. Call leaders Bill and Sharon Van Horn at 369-1983 for reservations. Visitors welcome, but no pets please.
