The Nantahala Hiking Club will take a 9-mile strenuous hike Dec. 15 following the Appalachian Trail from Deep Gap to Raven Rocks for great views of Lake Chatuge, Shooting Creek Valley and Brasstown Bald. Meet in Franklin at Westgate Plaza at 9 a.m. Call leader Don O’Neal at (828) 586-5723 for reservations. Visitors welcome, but no pets please.
