It only took a few days for Jandy’s Frozen Yogurt on Turner McCall Boulevard to get repeat customers.

“People love it,” said Jan Morris.

Jan and her husband Andy Morris opened the store in early March offering a unique dessert option for Romans. The store, which was named by combining the names of its owners, serves 16 flavors of yogurt and more than 40 toppings.

Andy Morris said he first came up with the idea when the couple was vacationing in Las Vegas.

“We saw yogurt stands and we became interested,” Andy Morris said.

The two thought about buying a franchise, but instead decided to create their own store from the ground up. They wanted something that looked clean, fun and colorful.

The yogurt shop has a brightly colored motif with polka dots on the walls, white swinging chairs and tables with red cushions and the walls are lines with yogurt machines.

“People have fun coming in and creating their own yogurt,” Andy Morris said.

The concept is pretty simple: Customers grab a cup and fill it up with flavored yogurt ranging from vanilla to mocha, from mango to cheesecake. Then you can choose from 40 toppings like candy, fruit or cereal and then pay 39 cents an ounce for your treat.

“It’s a healthy dessert with good bacteria,” Andy Morris said. “It is low calorie and fun to create.”

Jandy’s is open 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday.
