It looks to be a busy year for the Georgia Parkinson’s Association, with a charity walk planned next month and another coming in the fall.

The Rome-based organization is the local chapter of the National Parkinson Foundation and is ran from the Trussell and Associates Insurance Agency office at 708 Glen Milner Blvd. Their number is 706-413-3264 and their website is gaparkingsons.org.

The mission of the organization is to improve the quality of life for those living with Parkinson Disease and their families through education, support and advocacy.

Louise Pletcher is the sole employee of the non-profit group, but James Trussell of the insurance company volunteers his time to the cause.

The group hosts support groups on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, plans educational conferences, and organizes fundraisers, such as the Walk for Hope planned for April 16 in Cedartown.

Another walk is planned for the fall as Rome was selected as one of three cities to host the inaugural Moving Day walk in October.

Do you think the county's plan to increase school funding by 3% is adequate?
