HCP to stage murder mystery


Wine, Dine and Solve the Crime. That’s the plan at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29-30 at the Martin-Lipscomb Performing Arts Center, when the Highlands Cashiers Players stage “Destination Highlands Murder,” a dinner theater fund-raiser.Billed as the return of “Langston Hughes, The Detective,” the mystery is set in and around Highlands.



Western offers a musical tribute to Rodgers, Hammerstein


Faculty and students from the musical theater program at Western Carolina University will present the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein at 4 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Fine and Performing Arts Center on the WCU campus.

Square dance classes begin Jan. 19


Beginning Jan. 19, Western style mainstream square dance classes will be held in First Presbyterian Church’s Coleman Hall. Professional caller Jim Duncan of Otto will teach as many couples as will commit to the approximately 20-week series of lessons. Tentative class time is 6-8 p.m.
