Last Thursday was a busy day in Highlands. The Highlands Area Chamber of Commerce had a great after-hours event at the Park on Main. Nitrograss was a wonderful part of the festivities.
Here in a summertime idyll of lush green mountains, it can be easy to merely shake one’s head at difficult stories on the news, believing it’s all happening far away and doesn’t affect us.
There are many wonderful community events in Highlands this time of year. I participated in one on Saturday morning where folks gathered at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park to go on Greenway hikes.
Suddenly we are in the height of summer, which also means the zenith of hiking and camping season here on the plateau.
This is a control state. One first notices it in the ABC system that controls every aspect of the alcohol business, from where liquor can be sold to where it can be consumed.
