Members of the 2026 Leadership Highlands class have been selected. According to the Highlands Chamber of Commerce/Visit Highlands, NC, 14 individuals were selected from a very strong applicant pool to participate in the community leadership development program.
Leadership Highlands is designed for emerging and established leaders who are committed to deepening their understanding of the Highlands community while strengthening their leadership skills and civic engagement. The seven-month program runs from February through October and includes a retreat, monthly full-day sessions, enrichment workshops, collaborative projects, and a graduation ceremony.

The 2026 Leadership Highlands class includes: Kendra Alexander, Kaysie Allen, Heather Ball, Jennifer Colson, Randy Foster, Deneece Harrell, Rebecca Horowitz, Joshua LaVere, Jeanne Piazza, Sean Mullarkey, Henry Salzarulo, Meg Stevens, Holly Watson and Faye Wurm.
Throughout the program, participants will engage with local leaders and subject matter experts on topics such as Highlands history and cultural resources, economic development, local government and public safety, health and human services, education, arts, and outdoor recreation. The curriculum also emphasizes personal leadership development through principle-based decision-making and team-building experiences.
Leadership Highlands is a signature program of the Highlands Chamber of Commerce, fostering informed leadership and meaningful connections that strengthen the greater Highlands community.
