Golf Tournament is a big winner for local non-profits
Tom Machamer, John O’Brien, David Jackson, and Norman Pigott formed the winning team.
The 4th Cashiers Cares at Trillium Golf Tournament was held on Sept. 15, a perfect weather day for playing golf.
The 2025 event was the most outstanding yet, raising over $60,000 for 10 charities providing a wide range of services to citizens of southern Jackson County. The event was a scramble that began with breakfast treats from Crossroads Custard. Tee off was at 10:30 in sunshine and lunches were delivered to the players on the course, provided by Bear Tracks in Sapphire. Following end of play food and drink were provided by the Trillium Ladies Bible Study while scores were tallied to determine the winners. There were raffles and silent auction items to tempt attendees to open their wallets for charity, with all having more than $300 value. Local merchants were generous in donations that added to the financial success.
First place winners were on Dr . David Jackson’s team, with a score of 55. They were rewarded with dining certificates donated by Happ’s. The success of this event wouldn’t happen without sponsors that we had, Masonry by Mark Lewis and Appalachian Golf Cars. It takes the community to create a winning event and Cashiers Cares has been fortunate to be able to host this tournament for 4 years. Plans are already being made for next year…always bigger and better!
