Popular festival to feature four days of culinary delights, live music
Musician Nicole Atkins and singer Shelly Colvin have been added to the all-star lineup to perform at The Highlands Food and Wine Festival, a weekend-long celebration of the food, wine, music and culture of the Southeast in Highlands this weekend, Nov. 7-10.
Atkins, a New Jersey crooner, will open for The Wood Brothers at the festival’s Truckin’ Event on Friday. With an impressive discography including five EPs and four albums since 2006, Atkins offers authentic and meaningful lyrics about her struggles with life.
Colvin, an Alabama-born singer-songwriter and musician, will bring her alternative country/folk sound to the festival’s Main Event on Saturday, opening for Anderson East. Colvin has collaborated with chart-topping artists, including Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Old Crow Medicine Show and Lee Ann Womack.
“We are ecstatic to expand our roster with such a dynamic group of chefs, beverage partners and performers,” said Casey Reid, Highlands Food and Wine Festival Director and partner at Eleven Events. “This year’s Festival is shaping up to be a really special one, and we have received such positive feedback from ticket holders who are excited for this all-star lineup.”
The renowned lineup for this year’s festival was reflected in the ticket sales. Pre-sale tickets sold at an unprecedented rate, with the Main Event, Sunday Shindig and Weekender passes selling out in just two days. After remaining tickets went on sale to the general public, the other events were quick to follow. Reid said she was “honored by the enthusiastic fans that gave us a tremendous response to the festival’s presale and general sale.”
The four-day event kicks off with a Grand Tasting today at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park, during which attendees can savor cuisine from the area’s most celebrated restaurants while enjoying live music from The Dip, an electrifying seven-piece ensemble from Seattle.
The following day’s signature event, Truckin’ offers an opportunity for festivalgoers to relish selections from a wide array of food trucks, craft brews and fine while wines kicking up their boots to the tunes of The Wood Brothers, an American folk band.
Saturday’s Main Event is the town’s largest block party on Main Street and features award-winning chefs, beer, wine, cocktails and an iconic performance by Anderson East, an American musician who will be showcasing his guitar skills all afternoon.
The weekend concludes with the Sunday Shindig, a more intimate event with brunch favorites and a performance by The Infamous Stringdusters, an acoustic/bluegrass band.
