A slow start doomed Highlands in a non-conference basketball loss on Friday night.
Rosman took over midway through the first quarter and cruised to a 52-17 victory.
Aislynn Wyatt-Luck opened the scoring for the Highlanders with a foul shot less than two minutes into the game, but the 1-0 lead was the last advantage the home team would see. Back-to-back three’s by Tigers guard Lexi Powell pushed the visitors ahead.
By the end of the first quarter the Rosman advantage reached 15-3. Thanks to a stifling full court defense, the Tigers kept the momentum throughout the second period and built a 22-5 lead.
Wyatt-Luck had all five of the Highlanders point at the halftime break.
Jordan Borino got on the board in the first minute of the third quarter, but Highlands never closed the gap.
Powell paced the victors with 26 points. Alyssa Cheek added 11 points and Mallory Carnathan finished with 10.
Highlands dropped to 0-2 on the season. The Highlanders hosted Towns County on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
