Highlands kept its perfect season intact with a 3-1 win over Swain County on Thursday night.
With the victory Highlands claimed the Smoky Mountain 1-A Conference regular season title and locked up a spot in the NC High School Athletic Association state playoffs.
“We know that the soccer team will be hosting a first round game on Monday (May 3), but the game time and opponent have not yet been determined,” HHS Athletic Director Brett Lamb said. “The NCHSAA will release the bracket on Saturday afternoon and we will get to work coordinating with the other school.”
Lamb added that Monday’s game will likely be at either 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. depending on the travel time of the opponent.
Highlands has rolled through conference play during the abbreviated spring season with a 9-0 record. The Highlanders are getting the job done on both ends of the pitch, scoring 54 goals and allowing just four on the year. They won their previous four games by a combined score of 27-1.
Highlands wrapped up regular season play on Wednesday night against Murphy for senior night.
