Highlands Hurricanes hosts Hallowswim Invitational

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the Highlands Hurricanes Swim Team hosted the Cherokee County Aquatics Club (CCAC) and the Jackson County Swim Team (JCST) at the annual Hallowswim Invitational.
The boys won, and the girls finished 2nd.
Leading the way for the Hurricanes was Jr. Olympian Bella Batista who won 4 events out of 4, scored 28 pts, and in one of the most outstanding swims of the meet dropped 3 minutes off of her Personal Record in the 1000 yard freestyle. Zana Maseko and Ian Batista both won 3 of 4 and garnered 26 and 25 pts respectively. Nikita Denisoff and Emily Mason both brought home 20 pts, winning 2 and 1 events respectively.  Jr. Olympians Luca Maseko and brothers Jayce and Justin Powell all scored 19 pts.  Maseko and Jayce winning 2 events, Justin 1.  Max Justin won an event gaining 18 pts, Lucas Zabrian finished 1st in 2 events for 17 pts, Katherine Wise won an event (14 pts). Kate Vanderweile had 14 pts.
Melanie Zabrian scored 13 pts and broke the team record for the 25 yard freestyle in her age/sex group!
Tenpin Lama, Helix Sharpe-Sutton, and Senna Sherrill had 12 pts.  Sharpe-Sutton won an event.  Victoria Nadzauru scored 11 pts.
The Highlands Hurricanes are a Highlands Rec Park Team that practices mostly in the evenings at the Highlands Recreation Park Pool.  The only requirement to join is that a prospective swimmer must be able to swim 25 yards (the length of the Rec Park Pool) unassisted.  For more information, please contact Steve Hott, Head
