On Saturday, July 19, the Highlands Hurricanes traveled to the new Jackson County Aquatics Center to swim in the 2025 Mountain Swim League All Star Meet against Franklin Amateur Swim Team, Jackson County Swim Team, Cherokee County Aquatics Club, and Smoky Mountain Aquatics Club - based in Waynesville.
Highlands won.
Leading the way were Jr. Olympians Jasmine Abranyi, and in his last appearance at a MSL All Star Meet, Finneaus Garner, both who were awarded the trophy for most valuable swimmer in their age/gender classification.
Right behind them were Jr. Olympians Emma Dennisoff, Aniah McKim, Dodo Zhang, and Elizabeth Burnett all who were awarded the trophy for 2nd most valuable swimmer in their age/gender group. Jr. Olympians Hayden Bysura and Bella Bysura won the 3rd place most valuable swimmer trophy in their age/gender group.
Also swimming well for the Hurricanes was Emilina Hernandez with 15 pts, Asa Garner with 14, Rocco Basil 13, Jr. Olympians Justin Powell and Luca Maseko with 12 and 11.
Emily Mason, Lucas Zabrian, and Zana Maseko each scored 10 pts. Morgan Mason had 9, Max Basil 6, Ellie Bysura, Nikita Denisoff and Jr. Olympian Jaycee Powell scored 5. Ivan Shchelgachov 4, Hananiah Edwards and Jr. Olympian Jack Sumner 3, Katherine Wise and an ill Ian Batista 2. Brother and sister Max and Agatha Jestin swam well.
The Highlands Hurricanes Swim Team is a Highlands Recreation Park Team that practices mostly in the evenings at the Highlands recreation park pool. The only requirement for a prospective swimmer to join the team is that they must be able to swim 25 yards (the length of the recreation park pool) unassisted.
