The North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) held its annual 1A Cross Country Championships on Oct. 31. High school athletes from across the state showcased their talent on the challenging course located at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville.
In the women’s race, senior Claire Worley of Highlands High School finished in 13th place, clocking a time of 22:37.07. Nicole Taylor, Highlands native and a senior at the North Carolina School of Science & Math, secured a 7th place with a time of 21:53.57.
On the men’s side, the Summit Charter team fielded a group of young athletes eager to make their mark. Freshman Otto Dittrich finished 69th overall with a time of 20:42.02, a promising result for a first-year competitor. Fellow freshman Rivers Grant followed close behind, finishing 85th with a time of 21:36.45. Sophomore Aiden Rogers placed 94th with a time of 22:12.12.
