The Summit Charter girls’ and boys’ basketball teams continued their strong runs of form on Tuesday, Dec. 2, with consecutive home victories over Rosman High School. The girls improved to 4-1 on the season, while the boys moved to 2-0.
The Lady Bears opened the night in dominant fashion, earning an impressive 65-27 win. Freshman Bailey Robinson led all scorers with 22 points, adding five steals and five assists. Season Sydney Sinclair scored a season-high 15 pts.
“The girls came out fast and led 23-8 at the end of the first quarter,” said Jeremy Robinson, the Summit Charter athletic director and girls’ varsity head coach. “They did a good job limiting turnovers and pushing the tempo. It was the best our fast break has looked.”
The boys followed with a 46-37 victory. Despite shooting struggles, the Bears pushed through adversity to secure the win.
“We were pleased to get the win against Rosman and go to 2-0 in conference play,” said boys’ varsity head coach Matt Reynolds. “They came ready to play and were active and made it tough on us. Proud of our kids and their effort and playing through a poor shooting night.”
Summit Charter will host Andrews High School on Dec. 5, with the girls tipping off at 6 p.m. and the boys at 7:30 p.m. Both Andrews teams are 2-2.

Both Blue Ridge Early College varsity basketball teams struggled against Hayesville High School in their home matchups on Dec. 2. The Lady Bobcats suffered a 61-29 defeat, while the boys lost 69-20. Both BREC teams fall to 1-2 and will look to bounce back at home.
