On Wednesday, Sept. 30 officers with the Highlands Police Department made an arrest of Sierra Jenkins, 29, of Franklin, in connection with a theft of guest property at a Highlands Hotel and Resort
According to a statement from the Highlands Police Department, on Sept. 29 officers received a report that a guest’s wallet had gone missing from their room at a local lodging establishment. An investigation led by HPD Detective Kevin Breedlove revealed that the wallet had been taken by Jenkins who was employed as a housekeeper at the time. Further investigation revealed that the victim’s credit cards had been used by Jenkins at businesses in Highlands and Sylva.
On Sept.30, Jenkins was arrested and charged with misdemeanor larceny, and possession of stolen goods. Jenkins was also charged with two counts of felony identity theft, and two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense.
When officers performed a search of the vehicle Jenkins had occupied, they found and recovered property which matched the description of property stolen, as well as items which had been purchased using the victim’s cards.
