Highlands Festivals Inc. gives back to Founders Park

Highlands Festivals, Inc. presented a check recently to Friends of Founders Park from proceeds from the Highlands Food and Wine Festival.

Highlands Festivals, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that brings us the annual Highlands Food and Wine Festival in the fall and Bear Shadow Festival in the spring. Their mission is to produce festivals and events that showcase, inspire, and support our region’s rich culinary, visual, and performing arts community, and to contribute to organizations that directly benefit our local initiatives and strengthen our local community.

Their group uses Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park as a venue for the Food and Wine Festival, and naming Friends of Founders Park as an event beneficiary means that income from the festival is directly re-invested into the park for the benefit of our community.

Friends of Founder Park is a non-profit organization whose mission is to generate, organize and apply financial resources and volunteer resources for the maintenance, improvement, and protection of Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park in cooperation with the Town of Highlands.

This year, Friends of Founders Park provided upgrades to the park including an expansion to the picnic area patio, steps connecting the plaza walkway to the picnic area, drainage improvements to the picnic area, steppingstones for high traffic locations, flower color for the plaza and pruning of the large evergreens surrounding the park.

If any citizen or organization would like to contribute to the care of Founders Park, donations can be made online at www.foundersparkhighlands.org.
