Voting contest ends at noon on June 6
Highlands is in the running to be named among the Top 10 “Best Small Town for Shopping,” nominated by a panel of editors and experts as part of USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards.
The contest allows voters to select the winner, allowing one vote each day until it closes at Noon on June 6, 2022. Votes may be cast by visiting:

“The picturesque Main Street in the small North Carolina town of Highlands is a shopper’s paradise stocking a little of everything – sportswear, gift items, European and American antiques, home decor and accessories, fine art and kitchen gear,” reads the description on the voting website.
Nineteen towns across the country were nominated in the “Best Small Town for Shopping” contest category. In addition to Highlands, the following communities, in alphabetical order, are contenders: Aspen, Colo., Camden, Maine, Cape May, N.J., Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif., Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Dahlonega, Ga., Frenchtown, N.J., Healdsburg, Calif., Lahaina, Hawaii, Mendocino, Calif., Montpelier, Vt., New Hope, Pa., Paia, Hawaii, Rhinebeck, N.Y., Saugerties, N.Y., Sedona, Ariz., St. Michaels, Md., and Sun Valley, Idaho.
As of today, Highlands ranks seventh in the contest.
