Highlands High School graduate Abigail Nichols was awarded the 2021 Mountain Findings Scholarship this year totaling $40,000 over four years.
Mountain Findings was started in 1969 by four ladies to sell donated items to help local Highlands families.
“This past year has been very trying for many people in our area but thanks to all our wonderful volunteers, the generous donations received and our dedicated customers, Mountain Findings made a decision to present a scholarship to a deserving student to help them achieve their dream of attending college,” Edith Pendleton said. “Therefore, we are pleased to award the 2021 Mountain Findings Scholarship in the amount of $10,000 to Abigail Nichols.”
This scholarship will be renewed each year for the next three years for a total of $40,000 as long as Nichols continues to work hard and meet the established requirements.
“Abigail’s application and essay was chosen by Highlands High School Guidance and Scholarship Committee,” Pendleton said. “Mountain Findings provided the requirements for qualification. These included a good GPA, good work ethic, and community service. Good luck and best wishes in your college journey.”
Nichols plans to study elementary education at UNC-Charlotte.
