Brad Spaulding
Community Newspapers Inc. has named Brad Spaulding as the company’s next National Advertising Director. Spaulding will assume his new role within the company on April 12.
For the past seven years Spaulding has been publisher of The Highlander, adding a dual role as publisher of The Crossroads Chronicle in Cashiers in 2019.
“After graduating from the University of Georgia, Brad came straight to Community Newspapers, Inc.,” CNI President Dink NeSmith said. “Our philosophy has always been to provide challenges for our associates. And over the past 15 years, Brad has excelled in four different assignments in Georgia, Florida and North Carolina. After a nationwide search, he is our top choice to be CNI’s national advertising director.”
Spaulding started his career at the CNI home office in Athens, Georgia. He then took an assignment at the Fernandina Beach News Leader in Florida before moving on to the Tribune & Georgian in St. Mary’s, Georgia and later joining The Highlander staff in 2014.
CNI Regional Publisher Rachel Hoskins applauded Spaulding’s work during his time in Highlands and Cashiers.
“Brad and his family have been engaged members of the Highlands and Cashiers’ communities,” Hoskins said. “I’ve watched his career progress and I am happy this promotion allows him to remain a valuable member of the CNI team.”
Hoskins added that the search for a new publisher for The Highlander and The Crossroads Chronicle is already underway.
“My number one priority is to fill this position with an experienced newspaper person that will embrace the Highlands and Cashiers’ communities,” said Hoskins. “In the meantime, we have a very talented and dedicated staff that will continue to provide our readers and advertisers with the quality newspaper they deserve.”
While Spaulding is looking forward to his new role within CNI’s ranks, he did acknowledge Highlands and Cashiers as difficult communities to say goodbye to.
“My family and I have made great friends and connections here that make it hard to leave,” Spaulding said. “I will also miss working with the great people at The Highlander and Crossroads Chronicle and interacting with the communities on a daily basis. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue working for CNI in a role that best utilizes my past experiences within the company.”
