Mission Health breaks ground for new Angel Medical Center

Officials from Mission Health and HCA joined the Franklin community on Friday morning to break ground on the future site of a new and improved Angel Medical Center, which they expect will open by next fall. Located at One Center Court, 1.

All Fontana Regional Library locations in Macon, Jackson, and Swain Counties are now open for walk-in browsing without an appointment.  Because of high demand and limited capacity, some special sections may still require a reservation, such as Hudson’s Children’s Room and study room.

Vice President of Mountain Findings Marvin G. Carmichael will receive the Clemson Alumni Association’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award. Carmichael, a Dillon, S.C., native, earned two degrees from Clemson University in 1971 and 1976 respectively.

The annual Plateau Pickup litter sweep pulled trash and debris from all corners of Highlands on Saturday morning as volunteers tackled stretches of US 64, NC 28, NC 106 and several high-traffic streets inside town limits. More than 60 volunteers donned orange vests and work gloves to aid the cause.

A new community effort to promote the COVID-19 vaccination process got a seal of approval from the Highlands Board of Commissioners on Thursday night. The Community Immunity Project’s goal is to work with employers in Highlands and Cashiers to get employees vaccinated against the coronavirus.
