Audrey Lee Owens

Audrey Lee Owens (84) of Clayton, GA died at home on July 19, 2020 after a long illness. Her family was by her side.

She was born March 13, 1936 in Arlington, VA and was the oldest of three children of Ada Gorham. She graduated from Falls Church High School in 1956.  She married Cody Wayco Owens, of Georgia, on June 28, 1956 and was his faithful wife until his death in 2006. Audrey worked as a CNA at Highlands Cashiers Hospital and helped with hospital laundry and housekeeping for 17 years. Audrey’s contagious laugh and smile as well as her sharp wit will be missed. She was well known for her humility and truthfulness.  She never met a stranger.

Mrs. Owens was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Aug. 10, 2014 and was a faithful member of the Cashiers, NC congregation. She enjoyed music and dancing and also loved to be with (and help) people in many capacities. She also loved crafts and enjoyed making crocheted blankets for many.

She is survived by her sister Mary Seymour and brother Tommy Gorham and her sons, Jimmy Gorham, Eddie Owens, and Cody Owens and daughters Susie Whitaker, Cindy Snowden, Lisa Chapman, and Kathy Owens. She had many grandchildren. An online Zoom memorial service was held on July 25. She will be terribly missed by so many.
