May events feature live music

The summer tourism season has been ramping up over recent weeks, but the big waves will begin over the next three weekends. On Saturday and Sunday the Bear Shadow Music Festival returns to Scaly Mountain for a two-day showcase of music, food, and cocktails.

Rescue serves as intense reminder

It’s a shame we have to write this kind of reminder, but about once a year it happens. Highlands, Cashiers, and the surrounding areas are among some of the most beautiful natural landscapes anywhere in America and we are all fortunate to live and work here.

It is spring, and wildlife, like humans, are out and moving about.  We should all be vigilant and wise in our encounters with wild creatures.  Although they may look cute and cuddly, wild creatures are not our friends and certainly not our pets.
