CHHS announces new fundraiser ‘Putts Fore Paws’

The Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society has announced an inaugural golf tournament to benefit the animals at their no-kill shelter.

Almost a year in the planning, this new fundraiser and “fun-raiser” will occur during the peak of leaf season, Monday, Oct. 11, at the Arnold Palmer-designed championship golf course at the Cullasaja Club.

The Inaugural CHHS Putts Fore Paws starts with a 9 a.m., registration and a 10:30 a.m., shotgun start.

Mulligans will be available for purchase at sign-in. Prizes will be awarded for overall lowest score (with handicap,) closest to the pin, longest drive, and compliments of Hammond and Mitzi Rauers and Franklin Ford, a hole-in-one on a designated hole will win a car.

Registration is $200 per golfer and $100 of each registration is a tax-deductible contribution to the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society.

Registration includes greens fees, cart fees and a boxed lunch. All golfers will also receive a “doggy bag” of goodies compliments of CHHS.

Local pets can also have a presence at Putts Fore Paws by “owning a hole for the day” at Cullasaja Club. Pet owners can sponsor one of the 18 holes and a picture of their beloved canine or feline companion will be featured on the tee box. Hole sponsorships are $1,000 and this contribution to support the shelter pets is 100 percent tax-deductible.

“We are thrilled and honored that Cullasaja Club is hosting this inaugural golf tournament for our shelter pets,” said CHHS executive director David Stroud. “We believe Putts Fore Paws will become an annual tradition during one of the most beautiful times of the year at one of the most beautiful courses on the plateau.”

Combining prestige with a lot of fun, the inaugural Putts Fore Paws at Cullasaja Club is limited to just 20 foursomes. The application for foursomes to register is on the homepage of the CHHS website, chhumanesociety.org. For more information, please call 828-743-5750 or email golf@chhumanesociety.org.
