Founder’s Celebration is set for Friday, July 16, and Saturday, July 17 at the Highlands Performing Arts Center.

Midway through its whirlwind 40th Anniversary Season, Highlands-Cashiers Chamber Music Festival stages a performance to honor its founder, Dr. Lucas Drew.

Founder’s Celebration, set for Friday, July 16, and Saturday, July 17, will bring together violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti and pianist (and Festival artistic director) William Ransom, performing Beethoven’s Sonata #10 in G Major, Op. 96.

For the second half of the bill, Ms. Moretti will be joined by Violist Luke Fleming, cellist Khari Joyner, bassist Janet Clippard, and pianist Julie Coucheron for a performance of Schubert’s Quintet in A Major, “The Trout.”

In addition to her performances as an orchestral soloist and concertmaster, Ms. Morettti is an award-winning chamber music artist, appearing in concert series and at music festivals across North America and Europe, and she is a member of the internationally acclaimed Ehnes Quartet. Her Prokofiev and Bartók duos with James Ehnes were included in recordings that received Juno Awards for “Classical Album of the Year – Solo or Chamber Ensemble” in 2014 and 2015.

On Sunday and Monday, July 18 and 19, Ms. Moretti will be accompanied by Fleming and Joyner, and cellist Christopher Rex on Arensky’s Quartet for Strings, Op. 35.

After intermission, violinist Margeaux Maloney joins them for Beethoven’s magnificent Sonata in A Major, Op 47.

Highlands concerts are staged Fridays at 6 p.m., and Sundays at 5 p.m., at the Highlands Performing Arts Center at 507 Chestnut Street.

Cashiers performances are staged Saturdays and Mondays at 5 p.m., at the Village Green Commons on Frank Allen Road.
