Steep Canyon Ranger to play the PAC on Sunday

If you want to be among the crowd to watch Steep Canyon Rangers tear up the Highlands Performing Arts Center stage, you hopefully bought your tickets early.

For the second time in as many shows, the PAC is completely sold out for Sunday night’s performance.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Steep Canyon Rangers coming to Highlands and it’s obvious that we aren’t the only ones,” PAC Executive Director Mary Adair Trumbly said. “It’s going to be a great show and it continues our strong opening of the season, following a sold out performance by Rhythm of the Dance.”

Steep Canyon Rangers are Asheville-based Grammy winners, perennial Billboard chart-toppers, and frequent collaborators of the renowned banjoist and comedian Steve Martin.

The Rangers are made up of Graham Sharp on banjo and vocals, Mike Guggino on mandolin/mandola and vocals, Aaron Burdett on guitar and vocals, Nicky Sanders on fiddle and vocals, Mike Ashworth on drums and vocals, and Barrett Smith on bass, guitar, and vocals.

The band’s most recent album, “Arm in Arm” reached number two on the Bluegrass chart and number four on the Folk chart following its release in 2020.

If you missed out on tickets for Steep Canyon Rangers, be sure to purchase early for the PAC’s next performance – Empire Trio on June 14. The Empire Trio brings the best of Broadway to the stage at each of their tour stops and Highlands is certain to be no exception.
