Highlands Chamber of Commerce is bringing a series of pop-up bagpiping performances from local musicians Margaret Tooke and Glenn Morris, who are set to begin in May. Each performance will be held on select Saturdays up until the month of October.

Six weeks after a fight between pets, turned into a fight between owners, a Highlands man has been arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and resisting arrest, for his role in the incident.

A budget work session for the Town of Highlands Board of Commissioners took place last week to go over initiatives that are currently in development, among them being some updates on projects that are currently in the works.

In front of a packed house inside the Martin Lipscomb Theatre the Highlands Cashiers Players raised the curtain on their 30th season with a production of “The Outsider.
Kerri Tucker, executive assistant to the Jackson County Manager, organized and kicked off a blood drive for The Blood Connection. A total of 29 units of blood were collected during the event.

A sinkhole appeared at the Ingles shopping center parking lot in Cashiers last week, much to the surprise of many shoppers.  While the sinkhole was repaired by property management within the span of a couple days, their frequent nature does lead to questions regarding what should be done with them.
