Kyle to give lecture on foraging for CLE

For those interested in foraging wild plants and mushrooms, look no further than the Center for Life Enrichments lecture with Joey Kyle, co-manager of The Mountain Retreat and Learning Center’s farm. “I think this class will be a good introduction to wild mushroom identification,” Kyle said.

Cedar Creek residents unsatisfied with paving project

For the past month, Cedar Creek Road residents have been dealing with a road resurfacing project that has made the artery into Cashiers dangerous to travel. One of those residents is Edward Belcak, who has been asking the North Carolina Department of Transportation to come back and fix the road.

Highlands Pizza Place to open in coming weeks

After two years of being closed, The Pizza Place is being reopened and renamed to Highlands Pizza Place. The new owners, Dan Canary and his wife, Pam, have been coming up to Highlands for 10 years. “Dan’s dad actually had a home here and we came up visiting on vacations,” Pam Canary said.
