Highlands Historical Society hosts reopening

The Highlands Historical Society held their seasonal opening on Sunday, May 29. The event also marked the official opening of the society’s eight new exhibits which were put together with the help of a class at Western Carolina University.

Making history: Lady Highlanders become first girls soccer team in school’s history to make it to third round of NCHSAA Playoffs

The Highlands School Lady Highlander varsity girls’ soccer team made history Thursday night, being the only girls’ soccer team in the school’s history to make it to the third round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs after a 5-2 win against Elkin High School.
The recount will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 2, in the gym at the Robert C. Carpenter Community Building on Georgia Road. The recount is open to the public.
