Cashiers statue transported to Philadelphia

A Cashiers sculpture studio is thanking the community for their help in transporting a Harriet Tubman statue from the mountains of North Carolina to Philadelphia.

Candidate filing to resume Feb. 24

Candidate filing for North Carolina’s 2022 primary elections, as well as rescheduled municipal elections, will resume at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, and end at noon on Friday, March 4, under an order issued Tuesday by the Superior Court of Wake County.

New 24.5 acre development planned for Cashiers

By 2030, Cashiers could have a new 24.5-acre development including a lodge, greenspace and retail shops in the heart of the village that is focused on conservation and the preservation of the town’s character.

Scudder’s Gallery closes on building

Though Scudder’s Gallery closed its doors four years ago, in late December, the gallery recently sold its building where the business was located for more than 40 years. Owner Frank Scudder said his father came up to Highlands in 1975 to buy out another auction gallery.
