MTC presents Home for the Holidays

The Mountain Theatre Company is preparing to open their final show of the 2022 season, “Home for the Holidays: A Christmas Tradition” at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16 at the Highlands Playhouse.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the stars of the show during the Highlands Christmas Parade, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Santa Claus is coming to the Town of Highlands and bringing with him the annual Christmas parade, hosted by Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Visit Highlands, NC, on Saturday starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Highlands Board of Commissioners got its first look at the town’s newest addition on Thursday night when Highlands Fire Chief Ryan Gearhart threw open the doors at the new fire station on Franklin Road.

Unmarked curb ramps and a lack of truncated domes at intersections were two items mentioned in the Highlands ADA Transition Plan.

The Highlands Chamber of Commerce and Visit Highlands, NC will hold their annual “Light up the Park and Main” Christmas lighting on Saturday, Nov. 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Kelsey-Hutchinson Founders Park in preparation for the Christmas season.

Jim Tate, chairman of Macon County Board Commissioners, said goodbye during the regular board meeting on Nov. 8. Tate has served as chairman of the board for the past eight years of his 11-year tenure. He opted not to run for re-election.
