Motion filed to dismiss some claims in Wade Hampton Golf Club lawsuit

An attorney involved with the Wade Hampton Golf Club federal lawsuit has filed a motion to dismiss all but one of the claims made by more than a dozen ex-members involving redemption fees still owed to them by the organization.

Town to use ARPA funds on waterline project

The Town of Highlands has decided to put its portion of the American Rescue Plan Act funds towards the Moore Wood Waterline Replacement Project. Town manager Josh Ward updated the town board of commissioners on the project during the board’s regularly scheduled meeting last Thursday.

Highlanders split

The Highlands School varsity basketball teams were back in action on Friday night, splitting games against Swain County High School.   Girl’s Game: Highlands – 58 Swain – 37   The Lady Highlanders got an early start and held on to beat Swain County 58-37.

Cashiers statue transported to Philadelphia

A Cashiers sculpture studio is thanking the community for their help in transporting a Harriet Tubman statue from the mountains of North Carolina to Philadelphia.

Candidate filing to resume Feb. 24

Candidate filing for North Carolina’s 2022 primary elections, as well as rescheduled municipal elections, will resume at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, and end at noon on Friday, March 4, under an order issued Tuesday by the Superior Court of Wake County.

New 24.5 acre development planned for Cashiers

By 2030, Cashiers could have a new 24.5-acre development including a lodge, greenspace and retail shops in the heart of the village that is focused on conservation and the preservation of the town’s character.
