Tonight is the April meeting of the Highlands Town Board of Commissioners. It will not be held at the Highlands Community Center.   Since we are under a state of emergency the meeting will be a remote, electronic meeting by way of the ZOOM meeting technology.

It’s easy to lose focus. We are all busy people with a lot of responsibilities, family obligations and other stresses on our attention. Lately, much of the collective focus has been on the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

For those who have descended on Highlands from other states in the past two weeks, I implore you to please follow the town, county and governor’s states of emergency orders. Returning part time residents must voluntarily quarantine for 14 days.

Emotions are running high. As we all delve into the next round of self-quarantine, self-isolation and otherwise unheard of measures prior to the past month, the doom and gloom of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak has begun to set in.

 Like every community, Highlands is under great pressure and stress.  We are facing uncertain weeks and months a head.  All of us need to stay calm as possible and support one another.   Toward the end of the week I too was being “calmness challenged.

Time to stick together, stay apart
