Mayor on Duty - Keeping an eye on coronavirus

Just because we live on a remote and somewhat isolated mountain plateau, there is still a possibility that the coronavirus will appear and even spread.  We are a tourist community and have many folks coming and going to multiple locations which makes us vulnerable to transmission of the virus.

Budget retreat set for Thursday

The annual town budget retreat is today, at Coleman Hall of First Presbyterian Church. As always I want to thank the church for sharing with the town this great meeting facility. The retreat will begin at 9 a.m. It will run through mid-afternoon.

Sharing is a basic life skill that is taught in every elementary school. From an early age, children are engrained with the idea that allowing others to use their items is mutually beneficial – lest they need to borrow an item in the future.

The February Highlands Town Board meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at the Highlands Community Center.  Let me review some of the agenda items.   First on the agenda will be a presentation by Sam Lupas on the status of the Dogwood Health Trust. Sam is a member of the Dogwood Board for this area.
