HHS soccer ends season against Mountain Heritage

With a record of 5-5 for the season, the Highlands School varsity boy’s soccer team finished its season with a loss to Mountain Heritage High School last Monday, 2-1. The Highlanders took a long drive to Burnsville and were able to keep the score even at 0-0 at the half.

What started out with conversations about winegrowing with his plant biology professor turned into a full-on career for FEL Wines winemaker Ryan Hodgins. Raised in the Pacific Northwest, Hodgins attended Oberlin College in Ohio, where he often had conversations with his teacher about winegrowing.

Every year, volunteers with Wreaths Across America honor Highlands’ veterans in December with a ceremony. Event organizer Phil Potts said they are now accepting sponsorships for wreaths. “Wreaths Across America is a national company started by a wreath company out of Maine,” Potts said.

American Legion Post 370’s newest member, Vietnam veteran Rick St. John knew at a young age what he wanted to do with his life; serve in the army. The Waterbury, Ct., native was a sophomore in high school when he told his father that he wanted to go into the United States Army.
