Native Highlanders create video series to preserve history of town

Two Highlands natives are determined to preserve the history of the Town of Highlands by creating a video series titled: Rooted in Highlands. Kevin Fitzpatrick’s family has lived in Highlands since the 1920s and he said he started recording interviews with local Highlanders since the 1970s.

Highlands on the Half-Shell set for this weekend

One of the biggest fundraising events for the Highlands Biological Foundation, Highlands on the Half-Shell, is set for this weekend. The annual fall festival is back after a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19. The event began in 2014, when board members decided to start a new, fun event.

Magnolia Republic to host Grand Opening

Though Magnolia Republic has been open since the Fourth of July, the new restaurant will hold its Grand Opening this weekend for the public. The tapas and wine bar was opened by David Cunningham after years of planning. “We have always wanted to do something,” Cunningham said.
