Local Realtor Pat Allen takes her independence seriously.  She is intent on keeping her local business an independent entity, resisting any and all overtures about becoming part of a larger, corporate enterprise.  “I want Pat Allen Realty Group to be independent,” she said.

Jimmy Lowe, 82, a Highlands native, former Highlands Fire and Rescue Fire Chief and a Free Mason, was honored for his 50 years of service to the Blue Ridge Lodge 435. The ceremony was held on Sept. 25 at Zachary Park on Buck Creek Road due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns.

HCHF continues COVID-19 testing effort

The Highlands Cashiers Health Foundation has successfully funded COVID-19 testing at Highlands School, Blue Ridge School and Summit Charter School to maximize the safety of in-person learning and minimize the risk of community spread. The testing program began in September at each school location.
The Highlands Motoring Festival and The Bascom Center for the Visual Arts are teaming up for “Freewheeling – the allure of the automobile in contemporary art,” an exhibition that will run from May 11 to Aug. 21, 2021.

The Macon County Public Health Department identified a cluster of COVID-19 cases connected to the Macon County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 1. A cluster is defined as a group of five or more cases associated with one specific location, event or organization.
