Joanna Rainey, age 96 and a longtime resident of Highlands, died May10 at Mission Hospital.  Joanna was born Nov. 14, 1925 in Elberton, Ga. to John T. Rainey and Kate Jackson Rainey. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Kathryn R. Hyde, Etta George Worley and Virginia R.

Evelyn "Tim" Crane Picklesimer

Evelyn “Tim” Craine Picklesimer, 74, of Highlands, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022. Born in Rabun County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Phil and Carrie Isabell Henry Craine.

Ella Mae Nix Wilson

Ella Mae Nix Wilson, 91 of Highlands passed away Thursday July 14, 2022. She was born June 16, 1931 in Rabun County, GA to the late Frank Nix and Leona Reed Nix. Ella Mae was a home maker and enjoyed working in her flowers.

James "Jim" Walsh

On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, James “Jim” Walsh, passed away in his Scaly Mountain, NC home. He was 63 years old. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 28 years, Laure Swanner Walsh, and their two children Ali Mae Walsh and James Walsh Jr.
