HHS cross country travels to Robbinsville

The Highlands School Cross Country team traveled to Robbinsville on Tuesday, Oct. 6, to participate in the Currahee Classic. Timothy McDowell placed highest for the day in the two-mile run with a time of 12:58.20 to place fifth. Jim De La Cruz placed 14 in the two-mile run with a time of 14:02.

Little Smoky Mountain Conference Tourney

The Little Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament kicked off on Monday, Oct. 18, with Blue Ridge Early College defeating Hiwassee Dam, 25-15 in the first set and 25-20 in the second set. Pictured above to the right is senior Rebecca Watson killing against Hiwassee.

Maroon Devils take down HHS

The Highlands School varsity boys’ soccer team started strong but couldn’t finish off the Swain County Maroon Devils on Monday night, falling 3-1. The Highlanders got things going right away with a couple early shots and a corner, but they couldn’t hit the goal.

Dominance by Lady Highlanders

The Highlands School varsity girls’ volleyball team dominated last week’s matchup against Nantahala, 3-0. Ashlynn Wilson got things started serving strong for the Lady Highlanders.

Highlands School varsity boys soccer falls to Brevard in opening match, 6-1

Despite a hard-fought battle, the Highlands School varsity boys’ soccer team fell to Brevard in its home opener, last Thursday, 6-1. The Highlanders got things started early on with a corner, but the ball went over the top of the goal.

Macon County Soccer registration ends Friday

Macon County soccer registration online closes on July 30. Parents will need to have the birth certificate available for each player that they are trying to register since they will need to upload a photo of it.

Stiehler off to state tourney

In just two years of high school golf, Anna Stiehler has made going to Pinehurst seem routine. Highlands’ only female golfer qualified for the NC High School Athletic Association 1-A/2-A state tournament at the famed Pinehurst complex beginning on Tuesday.

Undefeated soccer season ends

Highlands ended the girl’s soccer regular season in style on April 29 with a 3-1 win over Murphy to cap a perfect 10-0 campaign in the Smoky Mountain Conference.

Highlanders claim conference title

Highlands kept its perfect season intact with a 3-1 win over Swain County on Thursday night. With the victory Highlands claimed the Smoky Mountain 1-A Conference regular season title and locked up a spot in the NC High School Athletic Association state playoffs.

Summit Charter adds lacrosse team

There’s a new team on campus at Summit Charter School, as lacrosse scrimmages began earlier this month against schools in neighboring communities. The lacrosse program was initially inspired by Summit Head of School Kurt Pusch’s history with the sport.
