For the second time in five nights, the Lady Highlanders basketball team defeated Nantahala on Tuesday night. Highlands cruised to a 63-15 victory on Valentine’s Day in the opening round of the Little Smoky Mountain 1-A Conference tournament.

Highlanders take down Bobcats

Highlands defeated archrival Blue Ridge for the second time in the past two weeks, downing the girls 51-31 and knocking off the boys 67-54.

Highlands takes two from Blue Ridge

Highlands’ depth proved to be the difference in a 59-52 win over archrival Blue Ridge on Friday night. The Highlanders got contributions from 10 different players in the hard-fought contest, thanks in part to there not being a junior varsity game.

Highlands’ basketball teams hosted Smoky Mountain 1-A Conference rival Murphy on Friday night for homecoming. The Highlanders split the contests with the varsity girls claiming a 38-24 win and the varsity boys dropping a 71-29 decision.

Less than a week after knocking off archrival Blue Ridge in straight sets, Highlands prevailed a second time over the Bobcats on Thursday night. The Lady Highlanders cruised to a 25-11, 25-22, 25-9 victory on Senior Night.

Blue Ridge was no match for Highlands in a volleyball home game on Tuesday night, getting shut out by the Highlanders 3-0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-17).

Highlands volleyball back in action

Highlands jumped into the deep end of the volleyball season right off the bat on Thursday night when 1-A powerhouse Murphy paid a visit. The Highlanders did their best to keep pace, but the Bulldogs proved to be too much in a 25-20, 25-11, 25-14 defeat.

Making history: Lady Highlanders become first girls soccer team in school’s history to make it to third round of NCHSAA Playoffs

The Highlands School Lady Highlander varsity girls’ soccer team made history Thursday night, being the only girls’ soccer team in the school’s history to make it to the third round of the NCHSAA State Playoffs after a 5-2 win against Elkin High School.
