Comedic Thriller

Highlands Cashiers Players will present Deathtrap, a comedic thriller by Ira Levin, Oct. 30, Nov. 1 and 2 and Nov. 6-9 at the Martin Lipscomb Theater in the Highlands Performing Arts Center.  The play is directed by Michael Lanzilotta.

REVVED UP FOR CHARITY

The 2025 Highlands Motoring Festival® was very successful by every measure including financial support to local human needs charities. To commemorate this accomplishment, there was a presentation of the funds to three local human needs charities at Kelsey Hutchinson Park on Oct. 21.

Lost hiker found on Whiteside Mountain

Mia Overton editor@thefranklinpress.com   A search for a missing hiker last week had a good ending when the man was able to walk out with rescuers. The Glenville Cashiers Rescue Squad was called out at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 for a hiker who was overdue to return at Whiteside Mountain.

A LESSON ON SAFETY

  Firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other local first responders with Jackson County Fire & Life Safety visited eight Jackson County schools, public and private, over a two-week period, helping young students understand the importance of fire safety and how to make good choices.

The permanent protection of 47.97 acres of ecologically significant land has been donated to the Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust (HCLT)  by High Hampton.
