Virginia Wright Young

Virginia Wright Young, 95, peacefully passed away on Oct. 28, 2020 in Knoxville Tennessee.  Born in Boston, Massachusetts on Sept. 9, 1925, she spent her childhood years growing up in Hull, Massachusetts.  She lived most of her adult life in Atlanta, Georgia, Port St.

Phillip Jess Mouchet

Mr. Philip Jess Mouchet age 77 of Griffin, Georgia passed away on Oct. 30,2020. Philip Jess Mouchet was born in Atlanta, Georgia March 13, 1943 at Crawford Long Hospital. He attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was president of his senior class.

Thelma Archer Jotcham

Thelma Archer Jotcham passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2020 at the Randall Residence in Tipp City, OH where she had been a resident for three and a half years.  Thelma had a vivacious personality, loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest!

Barbara Ann Gates

Barbara Ann (Green) Gates, 92, passed away on Oct. 22, 2020 at her Fort Pierce, Florida home.  She was also a 43-year resident in Highlands. Barbara, known lovingly to her grandchildren as “Bege,” was born in Painesville, Ohio, on Friday, April 13, 1928 and moved to Florida in 1943.

Bill Ray Owens

Bill Ray Owens, 67, son of Jesse Ray and Jean Holt Owens died at home Oct. 19.  Born in Augusta, he grew up in the Satolah community outside of Clayton, GA. He loved music and played the banjo and dobro and played with several bluegrass bands at different times.

Hazel Beale Potts

Hazel Beale Potts passed away on Sept. 28 at the Fidelia EcKerd Nursing home in Highlands. She was better known as “Broadie.”  Hazel was born Aug. 18, 1929, to Harvath and Callie Moss Beale. She grew up on Buttermilk Level and Big Muddy and attended Highlands School.

Dorothy Jean Egler

Mrs. Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Egler (née Foutch), 92, of Highlands, passed away on Sept. 28, 2020 at Highlands-Cashiers Hospital.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, and remembered for her warm and joyful spirit.

Herbert Lawrence Munger
