On Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020 Ann Gould died at Salemtowne in Winston-Salem, following a brief decline just five weeks after she had celebrated her 100th birthday with a small family gathering.  Ann was born on Oct. 18, 1920 on Long Island, NY to Naomi (Andrews) and Nelson Hyde.

Sara Hoover Thorne

Sara Hoover Thorne, 73, of Sewall’s Point, Florida, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020 in the presence of her loving husband under the care of VITAS Hospice. She was born in the Village of Pearl River, NY to John and Sara Shepard Hoover.

Michael Alan Crane

Michael Alan Crane “Whitey,” 70 of Highlands, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020. He was born Oct. 1, 1950 in Rabun County, GA to the late James Crane and Estelle Talley Crane. A funeral service was held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with the Rev.

John Milner Bankston

John Milner Bankston, age 79, passed away peacefully in his home at Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020.   John was born February 28, 1941 in Zebulon, Georgia to Ethel Milner and Chester Walker Bankston.

Homer Wayne Bryson

Homer Wayne Bryson, 92, of Franklin, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2020. A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Lazelle Talley Bryson.

James Kent Shearon

James (Jim) Kent Shearon passed away on Nov. 20, 2020 at his home in Highlands, surrounded by his family after a long illness. He was 79.  Jim was born to Clara Francis and Paul William Shearon on May 21, 1941 in Macon, Missouri.

Walter E. Furr Jr. M.D., 98, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Nov.20, 2020. He was born in Macon County, on April 11, 1922, the son of the late Dr. Walter Eugene Furr and Burdell Williams Furr. Dr.

Harris Lee Elmore

Harris Lee “Buddy” Elmore, 77 passed away Thursday, Nov. 26, 2020. Mr. Buddy was born June 23, 1943 in Macon County, to the late John Theodore Elmore and Margie Lee Hurst Elmore. A graveside service was held Monday, Nov. 30, 2020 at Highlands Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev.

Jackie Hensley, age 69, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2020.  She was born October 19, 1951 in Missouri.

Samuel Roy Talley

Samuel Roy Talley, 58, passed away Nov. 6, 2020, at his home in Franklin.  Roy was born to Doris June Anders Talley and Herbert Donald Talley, Sr. in Macon County, on March 3, 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother, Herbert Donald Talley, Jr.
