EG Banks passed away peacefully at his home in Winter Park, Florida on March 13, 2021. “Jerry” was born in Sanford, Florida on Feb. 8, 1933 to Christine Ponder, and lived his entire life in Maitland and Winter Park.

Dolly Wilson McCall, age 91, of Highlands, passed away March 17, 2021. She was born March 25, 1929 the daughter of the late Mack and Lona Chastain Wilson, also preceding her in death by her husband James Frank McCall of 65 years. Dolly worked as a bank teller for First Union Banking.

Alice White Dorn

Alice White Dorn, 100, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021 at her home in Central, SC. Alice was born in South Miami, Florida, the only daughter of the late Harold Wesley and Mabel Frances White Dorn, who were pioneers of the area that would eventually become part of a bustling city.

William Franklin Dowdle

William Franklin Dowdle, age 75, passed away on March 6, 2021.  He was born Nov. 5, 1945, the son of the late Rufus Franklin Dowdle of Franklin, NC and the late Etta Louise Neely of Highlands. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Dowdle and Mary Ann Smith.

Charles Thomas Palamara Jr.

Charles Thomas Palamara Jr. passed away on March 1 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Charles was born June 19, 1938, in White Plains, New York to Charles Thomas Palamara Sr. and Mary Nistico. He was predeceased by his wife Joan Ciborski Palamara. At the age of 17, Charles enlisted in the U.S.

Jane Kaul Wilson

Jane Kaul Wilson departed this world and was welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on Jan. 27, 2021 in Sandestin FL, after a brief but tough battle with COVID-19.  A private service for immediate family was held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Christ the King Episcopal Church in Destin Florida.

Sandra Duane Parr

Sandra Duane Parr, 72 of Cullowhee, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 8, 2021. Born in Tampa, FL, she was the daughter of the late JD and Doris Marquart Hughes. Sandra was a retired schoolteacher in FL and was the owner of The Bird Barn and Gift Emporium in Cashiers, NC.

Barbara Sears McRae

Barbara Sears McRae died peacefully at her home on March 2, 2021. Her loss is felt deeply by countless family members, friends and colleagues whose lives she touched. Barbara’s life was centered on her love for seeing good things happen in this community.

Curtis Alan Rich, Sr., was born in Pell City, Alabama, to Oscar and Mary Neighbors Rich on October 18, 1928. Curtis developed an interest in photography at a early age which lasted throughout his lifetime.

Sheila Potts Harbold, 56, of Highlands and Alto, GA passed away Feb. 7, 2021.  She was born Oct.11, 1964 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to Lucille Zachary Potts of Highlands, and the late Wade H. Potts. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
