Los Vaqueros now open in Highlands

Los Vaqueros, a new traditional Mexican restaurant, is now open for residents in the Highlands area. It has always been a dream for owner Ivan Soto to open his own restaurant. “I have been in the restaurant business for about 12 years,” Soto said. “I started as a bus boy and worked my way up.

Playhouse opens Curtains Up!

Written as a love letter to the Town of Highlands, the Highlands Playhouse is set to open Curtains Up!, created by the Playhouse’s artistic team, Marshall Carby and Jimmy Lewis. “We really wanted to focus on Highlands,” Carby said.

Summit Charter School celebrates 25 year anniversary

In 1997, Summit Charter School had students in classroom’s learning about their seven virtues. Fast forward 25 years and Head of School Kurk Pusch said they are still paying homage to the founding members by reciting the seven virtues every day.

Half-Mile Farm hosts first Southern Writers Series

Half-Mile Farm recently held its first Southern Writers Series where residents on the farm were able to meet and get advice from contemporary authors such as Cassandra King, Ron Rash and Mary Alice Monroe, along with travel journalists Cele and Lynn Seldon.
The entire team that traveled to the AAU Junior Olympics is: Jelehna McKim, Finneaus Garner, Mark Gross, Aniah McKim, Paolo McRae, Chase Kenter, Jack Sumner, Jasmine Abranyi, Sofia and Lilliana Jandera Chambless, Justin Powell and Corena Dearth.

Mighty 12 show out in Houston

The Highlands Hurricanes’ Mighty 12 showed out at this year’s AAU Junior Olympics in Houston Texas, bringing home 42 medals and finishing in 12th place out of 26 teams. The boys team finished eighth overall and the girls’ team finished 12th overall.
