Author Harris to visit libraries

The Cashiers library will host the author of “Long After We Are Gone” and “One Summer In Savannah,” Terah Shelton Harris, Thursday at 3 p.m. and Highlands will host her Friday at 12:30 p.m. for their Books and Bites series.

Highlands Performing Arts Center Director of Operations Jack Austin hasn’t seen 2023 Best Picture winner “Oppenheimer” yet. “I have to want to see a movie incredibly badly, to drive down all that way to Franklin,” he said.

Preparations for the fourth annual Bear Shadow music festival scheduled for this weekend, May 11-12, are underway at Winfield Farm in Scaly Mountain, where crews are setting the stage for headliners JJ Grey & Mofro on Saturday and Black Pumas on Sunday.

Oliver set for three-day run at PAC

Erik Bishop and Lee Trevathan were up until 4 a.m. Monday morning, April 22 preparing for the opening of their play “Oliver!” at the Highlands Performing Arts Center this week. Just hours later, they were back at it, sipping energy drinks and coffee as the workweek started, no time to rest yet.
